2023 Echo de Lynch-Bages, Pauillac, Bordeaux

Description

Blend: 71% Cabernet Sauvignon; 24% Merlot; 3% Cabneret Franc; 2% Petit Verdot.

This is a very expressive and elegant Echo this year. The palate is softly textured and juicy, perhaps due to more Merlot in the blend than last year, with plenty of cassis and bramble coming through. The wine has seen 14 months in a mixture of new oak and one-year old barrels, giving an added richness to the wine. There is a serious structure to the wine, much like the grand vin.

Pauillac

Pauillac

The aristocrat of the Médoc boasts 75 percent of the region’s First Growths, with Grand Cru Classés representing 84 percent of production. Pauillac's First Growths each have their own unique characteristics: Ch. Lafite Rothschild produces the region’s most aromatically-complex and subtly-flavoured wine, while – with its high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon – Ch. Mouton Rothschild can produce a decadently rich, fleshy and exotic wine.
