2022 Chablis, La Forêt, 1er Cru, Domaine Pinson Frères, Burgundy

Description

Planted in 1955, these are the domaine’s oldest vines. They’re used for massal selection to plant new parcels because they never suffer from disease. The nose offers up lemon curd and some toasty oak, which leads into a rounded and juicy palate. This is full of generosity and power but without any feeling of heaviness.

Dating back to 1640, Pinson Frères – now with Laurent's daughter Charlène in charge – is producing exciting and dynamic Chablis. Appealing ripe, pure stone fruit offset by crisp lime/lemon acidity. Finesse on the palate and a nice stony edge on the finish: a fine example. It could be enjoyed now but has the concentration to age.Drink 2024 - 2028andy_howard_mw, Decanter.com (October 2023)

White stones on limestone here, in a vineyard planted in 1955. A pale lemon colour with the faintest green reflections. No reduction, just a slightly fleshier white orchard fruit. Significant power, a little liquorice touch, but balanced, and there is a useful thread of acidity through the ample finish.Drink 2027 - 2035Jasper Morris MW, insideburgundy_com (December 2022)
