Description
Adjacent to the commune of Barbaresco, Albesani is note for its compact soils with a high proportion of blue calcareous marl. These give structured, ageworthy wines that in many ways are reminiscent of those found in Barolo. Combining both depth and firmer tannins, these are wines that need time to show their full potential, yet ones that also showcase the classic detail and elegance of Barbaresco.
This stems from a stunning two-hectare, south-west-facing parcel of 60-year-old vines at the summit of the cru. It has a nose of perfumed cherry and spice, that introduces and plush, glossy attack on a broad-shouldered mid palate. Fine, filigree tannins truly encapsulate the essence of this cru. This is not a wine to be missed.
