Description
Cabernet Sauvignon 73%, Merlot 18%, Petit Verdot 5%, Cabernet Franc 4%.
Some especially good Cabernet Franc in 2021 adds to Pavillon Rouge’s particular floral notes of violet and dried herbs. This is very classically styled; you could almost call it Palladian. The wine, with its plum and red-fruit notes, builds across the palate, to finish with proper intensity and complexity. This is an entirely satisfactory expression of both the château and the commune. It is certainly capable of further development.

Margaux
If Pauillac is the bastion of ‘traditional’ Red Bordeaux, Margaux represents its other facet in producing wines that are some of the region’s most sensual and alluring. The largest commune in the Médoc, it encompasses the communes of Cantenac, Soussans, Arsac and Labaude, in addition to the village of Margaux itself. Its finest examples are paragons of refinement and subtlety which have few parallels in Bordeaux.
