Description
Endowed with exceptionally rich and dark Cabernet fruit on the nose with just a touch of blackcurrant leaf, in an almost Margaux fashion, this is a thick set and muscular rendition of this iconic wine. The palate is equally fully formed with a tightly furled hit of complex spice and incense. The tannins are surprisingly refined given the breadth of the wine, but it is the acidity which resonates with me – it provides both grip and structure whilst working with the touch of alcohol on the finish.

Joe Czerwinski 93/100
The newest vintage of this classic Languedoc red is a solid effort. The 2020 IGP Saint Guilhem le Desert is 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, with no more than 6% of any other single grape variety present. Naturally, cassis elements lead the way, backed by black cherries and herbal notes, plus a subtle, barely noticeable layer of cedar tying everything together. It's medium to full-bodied, streamlined and smooth in feel, with a long, silky, elegant finish.Drink now to 2035Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate (January 2023)

Mas de Daumas Gassac
Famously described as the ‘First Growth of the Languedoc’, Mas De Daumas Gassac remains unique in the region. The world-famous red is an intriguing blend of Cabernet Sauvignon along with a mix of indigenous and more unusual varieties from the south of France, such as Grenache, Cinsualt and Tempranillo. Mas De Daumas Gassac Blanc is a similarly fascinating blend of grape varieties, with Chardonnay and Viognier taking centre stage. Lauded across the wine world, not for nothing is this Domaine named the Lafite of the Languedoc.
