Description
The domaine has 0.54 hectares in the lower section. The wine walks a nice line between the warmth of the vintage and Antoine’s more flexible approach, which here has eschewed the textures of extended barrel-ageing for something more voluble. There’s a delicious confection of hazelnut and cream, with the layers of complexity present but less forthright than usual. Drink 2025-2038.

Neal Martin MW 90-92/100
The 2019 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru had not been racked and was sulfured the week prior to my visit. It has a crisp, well-defined bouquet, although I find the Meursault Charmes has a little more personality and terroir expression at the moment. The palate delivers a pleasant saline bite on the entry, and good depth and more concentration than the Charmes. Spicy yet just missing some complexity on the finish. Neil Martin, Vinous.com
Jasper Morris MW 93-96/100
Most of the vines are massal selections planted between 1972 and 1978. Sulphured before the harvest and racked after. Pale lemon and lime, very stylish. Really refined, a touch of the expected juniper and verbena, all about the vineyard. Potentially a really fine classic here. Genevrières doesn’t fluctuate from one year to the next., in Antoine’s opinion.Jasper Morris MW, insideburgundy.com (December 2020)

Domaine Antoine Jobard
This white-wine focused domaine is renowned for its steely, taut Meursault. Antoine joined his father, François, here in 2002. He assumed sole charge in ’07, after his father’s 50th vintage. Initially, any changes were minimal. Now, there’s a clear move towards earlier bottling, with two winters in barrel no longer seen as the yardstick. This is both a stylistic choice and a response to warmer and earlier harvests. All decisions are now taken with a view towards greater flexibility, allowing more or less reduction from barrel age as required.
