2018 Château Angludet, Margaux, Bordeaux

Description

With no wine in 2017 after the frosts, this year's big grape clusters were savaged by an explosion of mildew at the end of June, so yields are a mere 10hl/ha. Luckily the Petit Verdot proved quite resilient and it bolsters the blend, adding a delicious bramble perfume and a lot of freshness for the vintage. What remains is very good indeed. Drink 2024-2032.

Critics reviews

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 D'Angludet comes sashaying out of the glass with alluring baked cherries, stewed plums and spice box scents with wafts of unsmoked cigars, pencil lead and fallen leaves. Full-bodied, rich, plush and seductive in the mouth, it has plenty of spicy sparks among the ripe black fruits and finishes spicy.Lisa Perrotti-Brown - 23/04/2019
