2017 Barolo, Rocche dell'Annunziata, Riserva, Mauro Veglio, La Morra, Piedmont, Italy

Since the 2016 vintage, Maura Veglio has offered the wine from this vineyard as a Riserva. Alessandro has seven rows of vines in this jewel of a site; the youngest are 30 years old, but some have reached ages of 100 years and more. The wine spent two years in barrique, followed by 30 months in botte. You can sense the warmth of its vintage on the nose: heady, with a herbal sense of sun-dried tomato. This is a hedonistic wine, with a jazz-hands sense of exuberance. The finish is fabulous, and offers so much pleasure.
