2017 Catena Zapata, Nicolás, Mendoza, Argentina

A surprise new favourite of mine. The wine opens with Cabernet's classic rich cassis and eucalyptus aromas, it has a very fresh feel to it, mostly thanks to the vineyard’s high altitude. Dark inky colour, powered by cloves, spice and blackcurrant. Strong, yet smooth tannins in the mouth with a long refreshing acidity. A few years aging in the bottle will add to this wines already impressive balance.
