2017 Dunn Vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain, California, USA

There is certainly plenty of deep and comforting aromas of cassis here, but possibly not as dominant as one might expect. The dense and eager black fruit is kept in check by a charming savoury and spicey undertone. Full bodied and full of life, this can absolutely settle down for a long period of sleep. Simultaneously, there is a persistent vibrancy to the wine that mingles with the developing notes to give it freshness. Opulent, but clear and linear with a resounding dried thyme finish. A real pleasure to drink.
