Description
With the 2015, Manuel decided to significantly reduce the volume of his two crus, to best express those great terroirs. What is no longer in the crus is now in what was his standard Barolo; it’s now exclusively La Morra, with all its heady charm and suave affability. It’s soft, smooth, floral and sensual, confident without being imposing. Drink 2021 - 2032.

James Suckling 95/100
Aromas of dried strawberries, orange peel and white truffles follow through to a full-bodied, compact and tight palate with fine, dusty tannins and an intense finish. Hints of chocolate and toffee at the end. Really complex. Drink after 2024.james_suckling, jamessuckling_com (Jul 2021)
Antonio Galloni 88/100
The 2017 Barolo del Comune di La Morra is an attractive wine in its peer group. It has plenty of depth in its red cherry fruit, even if some grittiness remains. Red cherry, kirsch, spice and leather open in the glass. I would prefer to drink the 2017 over the next handful of years. antonio_galloni, Vinous.com.com (February 2021)
About this wine
Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo is the grape behind the Barolo and Barbaresco wines and is hardly ever seen outside the confines of Piedmont. It takes its name from "nebbia" which is Italian for fog, a frequent phenomenon in the region.

Marcarini
Few views in Barolo can compete with the one from Marcarini’s terrace in La Morra. Encompassing most of the region’s communes and vineyards, one only has to look south-east to see Barolo’s modest size, cradled in the Italian Alps. It is fitting that Marcarini occupies this prime location; the winery is built underneath La Morra’s medieval watchtower, a signpost to the Marchetti family cantina that’s visible across the region.
