Description
Grown from Davide Rosso’s vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba and nearby Roddino, this Langhe Nebbiolo is an elegant and pure style, showcasing the best of the region. Like its bigger Barolo siblings, the wine was fermented in cement, but with a shorter maceration to preserve the wine’s elegance and aromatics. It was then aged in large 5,000-litre oak barrels for six months. The 2017 shows rose and violets on the nose, with a vibrant palate of cherry and raspberry fruit, and tightly grained tannins. Drink 2020-2030.

About this wine
Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo is the grape behind the Barolo and Barbaresco wines and is hardly ever seen outside the confines of Piedmont. It takes its name from "nebbia" which is Italian for fog, a frequent phenomenon in the region.

Langhe
Langhe is an all-encompassing zone lying due south of Alba and the River Tanaro in the province of Cuneo. Barolo and Barbaresco both lie within its boundaries. Langhe is also the name of a regional DOC zone, which is used to classify wines made outside of the traditional Piemontese varietal scheme. Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc wines from the region are, for example, classified as Langhe DOC.

Giovanni Rosso
Davide Rosso took over from his father, Giovanni, in the early 2000s. He has since risen quickly in reputation as one of Piedmont’s greatest producers. He may not have the uninterrupted winemaking history of some of his famous neighbours, but he is the envy of many: he has some of the most desirable vineyards in Barolo – Serralunga d’Alba, Cerretta, Serra – showcasing the vivid terroir of his beloved hometown.
