2015 Barolo, Brunate, Giuseppe Rinaldi, Piedmont, Italy

Description

The 2015 Barolo Brunate benefits from a thicker soil profile in this vineyard, which consequently bumps the wine's aromatic intensity and staying power up a notch or two. This wine is almost crunchy in texture, with a subtle snap or crackle as it hits the palate. It shows enormous beauty and richness with a dark fruit profile followed by elements of spice, tar, tobacco, and moist potting soil. There are floral notes as well, with rose and lavender. This wine will reward those who are patient enough to wait.

Critics reviews

Walter Speller 16.5/20
La Morra. Tasted blind. Lustrous mid ruby. Mint, garden herbs and sweet fruit with just a hint of gingerbread. Juicy, easy-going dark fruit that is round and already a little developed. User-friendly and ready now. Good depth and length. Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com (June 2019)

About this wine

Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo is the grape behind the Barolo and Barbaresco wines and is hardly ever seen outside the confines of Piedmont. It takes its name from "nebbia" which is Italian for fog, a frequent phenomenon in the region.
