Description
A pale primrose colour, this has a softer, gentler nose, huge weight to it nonetheless. This sunny site delivers an agreeable succulence, but this accessible character can be deceptive. Lamy’s Chatenière tends to age very well. Drink 2019-2025.

Olivier Lamy compares the 2015 reds as being similar to ‘05 with less stress, or ‘09 with more energy. As they offered good colour and tannin, he was able to use 60 to 80 percent whole bunches. Picking began on 25th August, starting with whites to keep their acidity. Overall, however, the red crop is down 50 percent and the whites by 20 to 25 percent thanks to coulure and millerandage after the flowering. Olivier has used no new wood in 2015 and no sulphur for the vinification – some will be added before bottling. Olivier notes that the whites have been tasting fresher and fresher during their time in barrel.

The 2015 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Clos de la Chatenire comes from vines on hard limestone and some parts suffered some hydric stress, according to Olivier Lamy. It has a rather austere bouquet at the moment with reluctant flint and smoky scents developing in the glass. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry with good acidity, linear and correct, again more austere than Olivier Lamy's other crus in 2015, with a saline finish. It has just been sulfured, so I expect it will develop more fruit by the time of bottling. Good potential here.Neil Martin - 28/12/2016

Domaine Hubert Lamy
There have been Lamys growing vines in St-Aubin since 1640 - today it is run by Olivier Lamy. Olivier is representative of a new breed of Burgundian grower keen to progress. He worked at Méo-Camuzet before taking over in 1996 from father Hubert. Olivier ceased supplying négociants in 1997, grubbing up and selling off peripheral vines, keeping only the best and oldest sites. Currently he is experimenting with different planting densities in a quest to capture even greater expression of terroir.
