This displays raspberry and violets on the nose and is quite intense. Rich, sumptuous and quite concentrated dark fruits are prominent on the palate, along with grainy tannins and an impressive length. It is surprisingly intense and has a really tremendous texture.

The 2013 Duhart-Milon-Rothschild, a blend of 20% Merlot and 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, has a simple bouquet for Duhart, though one that is not unpleasurable with muted scents of red plum and boysenberry fruit. Perhaps what the challenging growing season did was denude this Pauillac of terroir expression since I found little of that trademark pencil lead aroma. The palate is medium-bodied and quite rounded in the mouth, slightly lower in acidity than I was expecting, but cohesive with black fruit tinged with cedar and leather. It is a forward Duhart-Milon with moderate depth but decent length. It might be the earliest drinking and most approachable Duhart that I have encountered, but it still has drinking pleasure to offer.Neil Martin - 28/10/2016
About this wine
Chateau Duhart-Milon
Château Duhart Milon is a Pauillac estate owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild that produces on average 28,000 cases of wine per year. The wine chais are located in Pauillac town and the property has a similar climate to that enjoyed by the Médoc: maritime, with the Gironde estuary and the Bay of Biscay combining to act as a climate regulator and the coastal pine forests sheltering the vines from the westerly and north-westerly winds.
