Description
Cassis, blackcurrant leaf and graphite on the nose, with a touch of toasty oak. Bags of blackcurrant on the palate, with a fine structure and racy acidity. Doesn't have the depth of the 2010, but will be a generous and benchmark Pauillac for the medium term.
Fergus Stewart - Private Account Manager
A very finely toned nose of cassis and blackcurrant fruit backed up by lovely savoury hints of Mulberry and red plum fruit - a classic Pauillac / Batailley nose. The palate has a lovely swathe of cassis fruit across the mid palate and a mint leaf note on the back. Nicely poised and yet well integrated tannins and a lifted acidity makes this a classic style Batailley. The sub 13 percent alcohol harks back to the 80's to a more classic and gentler style of claret that will age beautifully for the next 5 - 10 years.
Stuart Rae - Private Account Manager
As usual, this is benchmark Claret. There is a nice volume of blackcurrant fruit from the nose through to the palate, supported by good tannins and a lovely acidity. There is a purity here that is lacking in some 2013s, and low extraction has helped to create a rich freshness that doesn’t feel forced in anyway. Cabernet Sauvignon 94%, Merlot 4%, Petit Verdot 2%.

Pauillac
The aristocrat of the Médoc boasts 75 percent of the region’s First Growths, with Grand Cru Classés representing 84 percent of production. Pauillac's First Growths each have their own unique characteristics: Ch. Lafite Rothschild produces the region’s most aromatically-complex and subtly-flavoured wine, while – with its high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon – Ch. Mouton Rothschild can produce a decadently rich, fleshy and exotic wine.
