Description
The 2010 vintage of the Champagne Fleury Millésime Extra Brut is the first since the 2004. A blend of 20% Chardonnay and 80% Pinot Noir from 20-year-old vines, this wine is still unbelievably fresh for its 12 years of age. The old vines have given an intensity and bold character to the palate, which is full of vibrant citrus fruits and green apple. There’s a yoghurty richness and spicy toastiness on the finish, thanks to time spent ageing in oak. Full bodied, with fresh acidity and a persistent finish, this will drink well from now to 2027.

About this wine
Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir is probably the most frustrating, and at times infuriating, wine grape in the world. However when it is successful, it can produce some of the most sublime wines known to man. This thin-skinned grape which grows in small, tight bunches performs well on well-drained, deepish limestone based subsoils as are found on Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Pinot Noir is more susceptible than other varieties to over cropping - concentration and varietal character disappear rapidly if yields are excessive and yields as little as 25hl/ha are the norm for some climats of the Côte d`Or.
