Critics reviews

Antonio Galloni 94/100
The 2009 Nuits St. Georges Les St. Georges bursts from the glass with a dark, powerful voice. This is classic Les St. Georges. At times a bit on the rustic side, the wine makes up for its occasional firmness with tons of fruit, massive structure and tons of personality. There is an implosive quality that suggests the 2009 is holding back much of its potential. I cant wait to taste this with another few years of bottle age. Firm oaky nose, cherry aromas. Fine attack that's fresh, concentrated, and lively, with fine acidity to balance the firm tannins. It's robust but not extracted, and has a discreet power (yet the 14.8% alcohol is barely detectable) (Thibault Liger-Belair, les Saint-Georges, Nuits-Saints-Georges 1er Cru 2009 - The day's top wines from the Burgundy 2009 en primeur tastings in London)

About this wine

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is probably the most frustrating, and at times infuriating, wine grape in the world. However when it is successful, it can produce some of the most sublime wines known to man. This thin-skinned grape which grows in small, tight bunches performs well on well-drained, deepish limestone based subsoils as are found on Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Pinot Noir is more susceptible than other varieties to over cropping - concentration and varietal character disappear rapidly if yields are excessive and yields as little as 25hl/ha are the norm for some climats of the Côte d`Or.
