Description

Ch. Petit Figeac is often confused as being the second wine of Ch. Figeac (that honour goes to  La Grange Neuve de Figeac).  Instead. Ch. Petit Figeac shares ownership with Figeac itself and indeed shares a similar blend to Figeac with its high percentage of Cabernet.  The 35-year old vines produce a wine that is approachable in youth and shows layer upon layer of luscious sweet fruit and is a perfect food match with rara steak. Only a 1500 cases are produced each year.

Château Figeac

Château Figeac is one of the leading St. Emilion estates and its wine, with its high Cabernet content, has often been described as the most Médoc-like in St-Emilion. The estate is located in the north-west of the appellation with its vineyards adjoining those of Cheval Blanc. Its 54 hectares of vineyards lie on a deep, Médoc-like gravel topsoil over a flinty, iron-rich subsoil. Figeac was promoted in 2022 to the level of Premier Grand Cru Classé A, the top tier of the St Emilion classification.

Saint-Emilion

Saint-Emilion

First officially classified in 1954, St-Émilion is one of Bordeaux's largest winemaking appellations, producing more wine than Listrac, Moulis, St Estèphe, Pauillac, St Julien and Margaux combined. Many of the region's finest vineyards can be found atop the steep limestone slopes of the village itself, although a fledgling band of garagiste producers are eschewing terroir to make small-batch, deeply-concentrated wines from their homes.
