2008 Château d'Armailhac, Pauillac, Bordeaux

Description

The Mouton-Rothschild stable performed well all round in 2008. D’Armailhac, the most affordable wine of the trio (alongside Ch. Clerc Milon and Mouton itself), has a creamy, fruit driven palate of dark, dense blackberries, gritty tannins and a savoury finish. Displaying elements of all the qualities that have made its illustrious sibling so famous, Ch. d’Armailhac represents exceptional value in 2008.

Pauillac

Pauillac

The aristocrat of the Médoc boasts 75 percent of the region’s First Growths, with Grand Cru Classés representing 84 percent of production. Pauillac's First Growths each have their own unique characteristics: Ch. Lafite Rothschild produces the region’s most aromatically-complex and subtly-flavoured wine, while – with its high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon – Ch. Mouton Rothschild can produce a decadently rich, fleshy and exotic wine.
