David Schildknecht 92/100
The Domaine de La Romanee-Conti 2007 Grands-Echezeaux exhibits a rich, roasted meat dimension to parallel its sweetness of ripe red raspberry and cherry, with hints of vanilla and caramel adding a confectionary hint, and a flatteringly plush, creamy texture. Cardamom, soy, and ginger add pungency and savor to a long, layered finishing melange. Follow it for at least 10-12 years.David Schildknecht - 29/06/2010
Allen Meadows 91/100
A more densely fruited nose that is intensely floral in character and notably more complex as well intermingles with more subtle spice and earth notes as well as notes of game, jerky and tea, most of which are picked up by the fresh, intense, powerful and moderately well muscled big-bodied flavors that possess an attractive mouth feel and solid finishing depth. This possesses ample dry extract that renders the firm tannins almost invisible at present but I suspect the buffering effect will not last long before this shuts down. This is an understated effort that isn't especially dense or powerful, at least not by the usual superb standards of this wine, but the balance is nigh-on perfect. allen_meadows - burghound_com.com - Jan 2010
About this wine
Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir is probably the most frustrating, and at times infuriating, wine grape in the world. However when it is successful, it can produce some of the most sublime wines known to man. This thin-skinned grape which grows in small, tight bunches performs well on well-drained, deepish limestone based subsoils as are found on Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Pinot Noir is more susceptible than other varieties to over cropping - concentration and varietal character disappear rapidly if yields are excessive and yields as little as 25hl/ha are the norm for some climats of the Côte d`Or.

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC)
Domaine de la Romanée Conti is co-owned by the de Villaine and Leroy/Roch families, the former successors to Jacques-Marie Duvault-Blochet who bought the vineyard of La Romanée Conti in 1869, the latter since acquiring the shares of other descendants of Duvault-Blochet in 1942. The domaine is today run by Aubert de Villaine. Many people in Burgundy just refer to 'DRC' as "the Domaine".
