Description
The?Champagne House of Marguet?is located in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay in the heart of Montagne de Reims. The family property was founded in 1870 by two Bonnerave brothers and was previously traded under the Bonnerave Frères label. The charming?5th generation Benoît Marguet-Bonnerave is now at the helm of Marguet, who radically changed the family business's direction, converting to biodynamic viticulture in 2009.
Over the past few years, Benoit has been refining his wines and working in both the vineyard and winery. The quality and expression of his wines are remarkable. With his sensitivities and skill in the vineyards, he sells his Pinot Noir grapes for Krug from his Grand Cru home town vines of Ambonnay but keeps the best fruit for his own. All his fermentations take place in a barrel or concrete egg, and he holds the vin clair for at least nine months before blending, allowing the wine to gain complexity and richness before secondary fermentation in the bottle.
