Critics reviews
Jancis Robinson MW 17+/20
Cask sample. Heady sour-plum nose. Colour not one of the deepest from this producer. Rather subtle and rich without being facile or sweet. Worthy of the appellation. Juicy and racy. Well balanced, though with pretty marked acidity. Smooth texture and an admirable pace.Drink 2025 - 2045jancis_robinson_mw, JancisRobinson.com (January 2021)

Charles Curtis MW 98/100
Liger-Belair owns 0.5ha, planted in 1936 just above DRC in the lower part of Les Richebourg. Initially somewhat reserved, this wine opened in the glass to reveal lush, plummy fruit and a savoury, smoky element and mineral notes. It is only with time that one realises the depth and strength of the tannins, so richly are they enrobed. An immense finish lingers long after you have finished. About this wine
Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir is probably the most frustrating, and at times infuriating, wine grape in the world. However when it is successful, it can produce some of the most sublime wines known to man. This thin-skinned grape which grows in small, tight bunches performs well on well-drained, deepish limestone based subsoils as are found on Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Pinot Noir is more susceptible than other varieties to over cropping - concentration and varietal character disappear rapidly if yields are excessive and yields as little as 25hl/ha are the norm for some climats of the Côte d`Or.
