Critics reviews

Walter Speller 17/20
Just mid ruby with broad, orange-tinged rim. Ripe and exceptionally concentrated for this vintage (a severe – some would say ‘excessive’ – green harvest is the estate’s trademark). Hints of tobacco and cherry. Sweet and ripe yet fluid on the palate, followed by muscular, coating tannins. Bags of fruit yet elegant.Drink 2016 - 2038Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com (Nov 2015)

The 2012 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is one of the riper, racier wines in this range. Sweet floral notes meld into a core of red berries, mint and sweet spices. This is a very typical 2012 Barolo that already drinks well early. Expansive and voluptuous to the core, the Rocche is probably the first of these 2012s that I would choose to open. This is a very typical Barolo from one of La Morra's finest sites.Drink 2018 - 2032antonio_galloni, Vinous.com.com (Nov 2015)

About this wine

Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo is the grape behind the Barolo and Barbaresco wines and is hardly ever seen outside the confines of Piedmont. It takes its name from "nebbia" which is Italian for fog, a frequent phenomenon in the region.

Roberto Voerzio

Voerzio is the original ‘modernist’ Barolo estate. Based in La Morra, Roberto started in the 1980s with five hectares. He makes tiny quantities from a number of top vineyards (La Serra, Rocche dell’Annunziata, Cerequio, Fossati Case Nere, Sarmassa), 60 percent of which have been planted at high density levels. Yet in the winery he’s relatively traditional, eschewing roto-fermentors or manipulation of the fruit, ageing in a combination of small and (since 2008) increasingly large botti.
