Description
Brilliant bright purple in colour, there is a real energy to this, with notes of intense dark raspberry. As always it will take a long time for the detail to show but this has great promise. Enough structure behind, handling the oak well, and finishing with a dreamy intensity.

Drouhin began picking the whites from 30th September, being very careful with the pressing and doing very little lees stirring. The reds were picked during the first two weeks of October, with careful sorting necessary and the laser optic equipment proving particularly useful at removing hail damaged berries. The reds have a sublime sense of grace and elegance, the vintage suiting the Drouhin style perfectly.

About this wine
Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir is probably the most frustrating, and at times infuriating, wine grape in the world. However when it is successful, it can produce some of the most sublime wines known to man. This thin-skinned grape which grows in small, tight bunches performs well on well-drained, deepish limestone based subsoils as are found on Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Pinot Noir is more susceptible than other varieties to over cropping - concentration and varietal character disappear rapidly if yields are excessive and yields as little as 25hl/ha are the norm for some climats of the Côte d`Or.
