Jancis Robinson MW 16.5/20
Very dark purple. Very sweet and rich and punchy. Just a bit green and sinewy on the end. Not quite a complete wine. The less successful grapes went into this I assume? jancis_robinson_mw MW- jancis_robinson_mw.com Apr 2011)

18.5/20
A notch superior to the '09 in terms of length and structure. 10% Cabernet Sauvignon for the first time. Lifted, smoky, red fruit nose. Dense, layered fruit with minerally freshness. Firm, ripe tannins. Stunning for a second wine.

Robert Parker 89+/100
The 2010 Chapelle Ausone is a very elegant wine with rather tart acids, this second wine of Ausone is medium-bodied, has dark raspberry and blueberry fruit notes with some hints of wet stones. Pure, nicely textured, but rather backward, this wine needs further bottle age. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2030. One of the other perfectionist, compulsive producers in St.-Emilion is Alain Vauthier, who is now capably assisted by his daughter. (89+ robert_parker- Wine Advocate- Feb 2013) The fact that this second wine is so remarkable tells readers just how stupendous the grand vin must be. The dense purple-hued 2010 Chapelle d’Ausone offers a perfumed nose of blue, red and black fruits, licorice, incense and crushed rocks. Deep, full-bodied, round and generous, this wine will offer magnificent drinking over the next 20-25+ years. (92-94 robert_parker- Wine Advocate- May 2011)

James Molesworth 90-93/100
Focused and taut, with racy linzer torte and spice notes backed by dark licorice. There's lots of kirsch on the back end, and this is firm, but not overly so. (james_molesworth – The Wine Spectator – Apr 2011)

About this wine
Château Ausone
Château Ausone is a wine estate in St Emilion on the Right Bank of Bordeaux. It takes its name from the poet Ausonius, who is thought to have owned a villa where the estate stands today – just outside the medieval village of St Emilion. Ausone’s vineyards sit atop St Emilion’s limestone plateau and extend in terraces down the côtes. There are just over six hectares of vines planted today, mostly Cabernet Franc along with Merlot. The team practice organic and biodynamic viticulture though without certification.
