It is easy to underestimate this property. From the same stable as Château Batailley, the same no-nonsense, keep-it-simple approach applies here; the result is usually a wine that delivers solid and rewarding drinking at a good price within the vintage context. The 2021 doesn’t have the extra ripeness of recent vintages, but it remains an appealing and genuine option that won’t disappoint. Drink 2026-2038.

William Kelley 89-91/100
The 2021 Lynch-Moussas is a solid effort, exhibiting aromas of cassis, loamy soil and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, lively and charming, with impressive depth for the vintage and by the standards of this 62-hectare Pauillac estate, the blend is dominated by 72% Cabernet Sauvignon.William Kelley, Wine Advocate (Apr 2022)
Neal Martin MW 90-92/100
The 2021 Lynch-Moussas has a lovely bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and cedar scents, a touch of wild mint emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with quite thick tannins that lend this Pauillac surprising weight in context of the vintage. Quite rounded on the finish with a touch of pain grillé on the aftertaste.Neal Martin, Vinous.com.com, (May 2022)
Jane Anson MW 89/100
Black cherry, raspberry, enjoyable, not quite the same ripeness that I have found in Lynch Moussas over the past few years, but this is enjoyable. As it opens, tar and campfire smoke curl out of the glass. Late harvest helped the fruit get to a good level of ripness, but this is soft on the finish.Drink 2026 - 2036jane_anson_mw, janeanson_com (May 2022)
About this wine
Chateau Lynch-Moussas
Château Lynch-Moussas is a 5ème Cru Classé estate located in the south-west of the Pauillac wine appellation. Lynch-Moussas has been thoroughly renovated in the last 30 years and is now producing high quality claret. Lynch-Moussas's impressive château dates back to 1850, but the key date in Lynch-Moussas` history was 1969 when it was bought by Emile Castéja, owner of Château Batailley and négociant firm Borie-Manoux. Extensive replanting and much-needed modernisation in the cellars have transformed the quality of the wine. Lynch-Moussas is a typically a blend is Cabernet Sauvignon based and the wine is aged in 60% new oak barrels for between 12 and 18 months. The wines are rich in black fruits and display prominent vanilla notes. For a Pauillac, Lynch-Moussas contains a relatively high proportion of Merlot and is consequently a softer, silkier and lusher wine than many of its neighbours.
