Description
The site from which this Bourgogne Aligoté comes is an old quarry, situated in the combe above Nuits-St Georges. The vineyard was planted in 1978 with Aligoté Dorée, an older clone of the variety with – as the name suggests – more golden skin. This encourages Thibault to allow the wine about a week of skin contact, giving it a pithy texture.

Jasper Morris MW 87-88/100
After one week of skin maceration before fermentation, the wine is transferred to barrel, where it remains. A reasonably profound yellow colour thanks to the skin contact with a forceful bouquet, everything being concentrated including the lightly bitter notes. A deliciously ripe fruit on the palate, with some yellow plums as well as the more typical greengage. Lovely persistent aftertaste.Drink 2024 - 2028Jasper Morris MW, insideburgundy_com (January 2023)

About this wine
Aligoté
A grape that was first recorded in Burgundy in the 18th century and is still planted almost exclusively there, though there are limited plantings in Bulgaria, Moldavia and even California. It is a moderate-yielding grape that tends to perform best on south-east facing slopes and in warm, dry years.
