Description
The domaine has a tiny 0.18-hectare parcel in this prime site, bought in 1997; it’s superbly situated between Chevalier and Le Montrachet. There are just three barrels. Tasting after the Meursaults, this is noticeably taut, showing more spice. There’s a charismatic transparency to the wine; you feel the detail, but its presence commands your attention. Drink 2024-2040.

The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Caillerets 1er Cru had a tight, backward nose that struggled to follow in the footsteps of the Genevrières and Perrières. The palate is well balanced with lime and candied orange peel on the entry. A very effervescent Puligny, if just missing the nobility of other vintages that have crossed my palate over the years. Pale yellow, this has a ripe cooked lemon nose, stopping short of the exotic. Quite interesting nonetheless. Beautifully balanced on the palate, with a softer approach but really complete in the mouth, the acidity is very well integrated. This vineyard was the first to be picked which looks like a good decision. Very long finish. Waves of flavour and no ostensible heat. Very good indeed.Jasper Morris MW, insideburgundy.com (December 2020)

Chardonnay
Chardonnay is often seen as the king of white wine grapes and one of the most widely planted in the world It is suited to a wide variety of soils, though it excels in soils with a high limestone content as found in Champagne, Chablis, and the Côte D`Or. Burgundy is Chardonnay's spiritual home and the best White Burgundies are dry, rich, honeyed wines with marvellous poise, elegance and balance. They are unquestionably the finest dry white wines in the world. Chardonnay plays a crucial role in the Champagne blend, providing structure and finesse, and is the sole grape in Blanc de Blancs.
