Description
The higher section of this vineyard, where Jean-Baptiste has most of his two hectares, has more limestone. This has the same élevage as the Bourgogne Blanc, but with 20% new oak. There’s a fresh attack of white flower and fruit kernel, great energy and purity on the finish. Its 14.5% alcohol isn’t felt at all: it’s beautifully composed.

Jasper Morris MW 89-91/100
Pale lemon, with some herbal notes on the nose, good weight at the front of the palate, fattens out nicely behind, retaining an attractive lemony tingle. Very pretty fruit through to the finish and does not show undue heat, though this was one of the higher sugar readings.Jasper Morris MW, insideburgundy_com (December 2020)

The 2019 Meursault Les Grands Charrons, also taken from tank, has a well-defined bouquet of citrus fruit infused with touches of yellow flower; hints of apricot blossom emerge with time. The palate is well balanced with a brisk, citrus- and lime-tinged entry. Taut at the moment, but there is palpable energy here, and a persistent, ginger-infused finish. Excellent.Drink 2022 - 2030Neil Martin, Vinous.com.com (December 2020)

Chardonnay is often seen as the king of white wine grapes and one of the most widely planted in the world It is suited to a wide variety of soils, though it excels in soils with a high limestone content as found in Champagne, Chablis, and the Côte D`Or. Burgundy is Chardonnay's spiritual home and the best White Burgundies are dry, rich, honeyed wines with marvellous poise, elegance and balance. They are unquestionably the finest dry white wines in the world. Chardonnay plays a crucial role in the Champagne blend, providing structure and finesse, and is the sole grape in Blanc de Blancs.
