Description
At first fairly restrained, this then reveals lovely coffee and plum notes, blackberry with a touch of underbrush. The palate is medium-bodied with a balanced seam of richness, red fruit and blueberry on the mid-palate. It’s almost Burgundian in style with its cooling acidity. This has lovely ample juice. Fragrant with a long, spicy finish.

Lively and rich on the nose without much forcing. Really quite dramatic in 2016! Luscious yet with a framework.
Neal Martin MW 93-95/100
The 2016 Feytit Clinet, a blend of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, has such purity on the nose that you would almost consider this to be a Grand Cru Burgundy! It unfolds in the glass, black cherries mixed with raspberry coulis, just a little new oak to be integrated as it will during its barrel maturation. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe blackberry and bilberry notes, here certainly in Pomerol territory with sage and black truffle emerging towards the persistent finish. Jéremy Chasseuil has crafted a wonderful follow-up to the impressive 2015 Feytit-Clinet and I cannot wait to taste this from bottle. Neil Martin, Wine Advocate. 28th April 2017

Plush and pumped up, stretching out with those elongated tannins and fresh acidities. Totally gorgeous cassis, blackberry, coffee, peppery spice, slate and tar. It's muscular and ripped, but with a wonderfully rich, textured quality to the tannins. Very much a physical experience, you are pushing through these flavours one at a time. 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. Drinking Window 2027 - 2045 jane_anson_mw, Decanter. 3rd April 2017.
About this wine
Chateau Feytit-Clinet
Situated on the western part of the plateau in the Pomerol wine appellation in Bordeaux, Château Feytit-Clinet belonged to the stable of Moueix family wines until 1999. Jeremy Chasseuil arrived at Château Feytit-Clinet in time for the stunning 2000 vintage. Previously a wine-maker at Château La Dominique, his efforts since have resulted in some very impressive wines. Soils here are rich in clay which favours the Merlot grape rather than the Cabernets, and Jeremy has exploited them perfectly to produce succulent wines, never over-extracted, and full of charm and distinction.
