Description
The most impressive and beautiful Quinta in the Valley, architecturally speaking, with an appropriate structural counterpoint in its eponymous wine. An archetype Vesuvio, with haunting aromatics of violets, blueberries, figs and wood-smoke, and a palate where the tannins are powerful but integrated and the sweet and spicy elements are beautifully and harmoniously integrated.

Critics reviews
Jay Miller 91/100
The purple/black 2007 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port offers up aromas of pine forest, menthol, pepper, Asian spices, and blackberry compote. This leads to a youthful, primary Port with gobs of mid-palate fruit, firm but ripe tannins, tremendous depth and concentration, and a succulence which raises it above the crowd. Impeccably balanced, it will evolve for 15-20 years and drink well through 2040. (Jay Miller - erobertparker_com - Feb 2010)

Special very small production from this Symington-owned quinta (pictured). Very dark. Hint of treacle on the nose. Very round and actually a little lighter than the regular bottling. Great edge and attack and lots of sweetness but not as dense as the regular bottling - though there is more obvious tannin on the finish. I imagine this is more expensive than the regular Quinta do Vesuvio but I'm not quite convinced by its superiority?
