Description
According to Robert Parker, no less, this estate has over the last 30 years consistently produced wines of Third Growth quality. In 2005, winemaker Jean-Pierre Foubet has yet again displayed a sure touch in his handling of the fruit at Chasse-Spleen. A lovely plummy richness is backed by tannins which are very present and substantial but totally ripe, creating a very harmonious, balanced wine with an almost Margaux-like fragrance.

Robert Parker 89+/100
A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, this is a relatively big 2005 and somewhat larger than usual for Chasse-Spleen. The wine offers fairly high tannin but ripe, concentrated fruit. Dense, youthful ruby/garnet in color, with notes of cassis, saddle leather and spice, this wine could use another several years of cellaring and should keep 15+ years.Robert M.
